Weddings · Christenings · Work events · Funerals
You've accepted the invitation. April makes sure you arrive with someone socially confident beside you — a polished, easy-to-talk-to plus-one for a wedding, dinner, theatre evening or professional event. You meet them by video first, and they're good company for the agreed part of the occasion. Nothing more, nothing awkward.
Strictly platonic. Arranged in advance. Always in public. Not a date, not an escort, not another app.
Women-run · Strictly platonic · Public venues · Clients 30+ · Plus-ones 25+ · No membership required

We're deliberately small, so we're taking a limited number of founding bookings — offered to our first five suitable enquiries. Every enquiry is reviewed personally, and there's no obligation to proceed.
You bring the occasion. We bring someone who's easy to talk to, good in a room full of strangers, and gone by the agreed finish — no follow-up, no complication.
Going alone is genuinely fine — plenty of people do it well. April is simply for the occasions you'd enjoy more with someone beside you.
A dating app is the wrong tool for this. You're not after chemistry, a second date, or the small performance of being interested. You want one specific thing: someone who is good company on Saturday, fits the occasion, and whom you never have to think about again. That's the entire job April does — and it's the reason clients keep a plus-one on hand the way they'd keep a good tailor or a trusted hairdresser.
"The aim is quietly simple: you stop turning down the invitations."The thinking behind April
A short, private enquiry — the occasion, the date and how to reach you. No obligation, no long form.
We talk through the occasion, the kind of person you'd feel comfortable with, and an indicative price.
Vierka or a member of her team reviews your call notes and suggests someone who actually fits the occasion.
You meet your proposed plus-one by video before you confirm. If it doesn't feel right, we'll suggest another where we can.
Verification, a clear agreement and payment — then you arrive with easy, confident company.
April is run by women, and we've built it the way we'd want a service like this to work. Bookings happen in public venues, never private homes or hotel rooms. Clients are 30 or over and verified before they join. Everything is platonic, and we're comfortable turning away anyone who'd prefer otherwise.
None of this is window-dressing — it's what lets both clients and plus-ones relax into the evening. Read how we work →

April was created by Vierka and a small women-led team in Bristol, after years of hearing capable, independent people quietly say the same thing: "I'd go — I just don't want to walk in alone." So she built the service she wished already existed.
It's deliberately small and private, so we can genuinely know the people who use April, hold our standards, and step in quickly if something doesn't feel right. Women-run, and built on three things: discretion, clear boundaries, and safety.
There's no romance angle and no membership app to download. Just good company for the events you'd rather not walk into alone.
The worry isn't only going alone — it's paying to attend with someone you might find awkward. So you'll meet your proposed plus-one by video before you confirm the match. If the connection doesn't feel comfortable, we'll suggest another suitable person where availability allows.
And you'll never be asked to invent a relationship. You can simply introduce your plus-one by their first name — April will never require you to rehearse a false backstory.
The people we introduce are chosen for how they make others feel, not for a look. They're warm and easy to talk to, comfortable in both relaxed and formal rooms, and genuinely good company across a dinner or a reception. Backgrounds span the professional and the creative; interests range from theatre and travel to food, music and sport.
Everyone is ID-verified, referenced and signed to a code of conduct before they ever attend a booking. Full details of your proposed plus-one — including a photograph — are shared privately once we've understood your occasion, and you meet them by video before anything is confirmed.
We're introducing our founding plus-ones now, and will add a small set of first-name profiles here as each person is confirmed and consents.
No — and we mean that plainly. April is platonic and strictly non-sexual. We provide good company at public events, nothing else, and we decline anyone looking for more.
Nothing complicated. You can simply introduce your plus-one by their first name — we take our cue from you. April will never ask you to invent a relationship or rehearse a false backstory.
